Kids ROC Food Donations Needed

We are in need of some of the following items:
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Fresh Fruits such as Apples, Bananas & Oranges
  • Individual boxes of Raisins
  • Granola Bars or Crackers
  • Cans of Ravioli, Spaghetti O’s or Soups
  • Lunchables
  • Vegetables such as Baby Carrots
  • Juice Boxes or Pouches
  • Pudding or Jello Cups
  • Sandwich Makings: Lunch Meat, Bread & Cheese
  • Microwave Popcorn or Cookies
*Individually packaged foods are preferred.

CPR Class Offered


On September 10 Lynn Tice will be teaching a CPR class here at the church for youth workers, anyone working with the elderly, bus drivers, Sunday school teachers or anyone else that would like to be certified.  Bring a brown bag lunch & join in at 8:30 a.m. for important safety training. Cost is $25.00 each.  Need more information?  Just call the church office 582-4443.

New Bishop Elected

The Rev. Ruben Saenz Jr. was elected the Bishop of the Great Plains Conference on July 14. Saenz is a native of Rio Grande City, Texas, and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in secondary education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He has been a high school teacher and coach in Rio Grande City for six years until he began working full time at a small business that he and his wife started in 1984.
In 1993, they sold their business and moved to Dallas, where he began studies at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. When he earned his masters of theology degree at Perkins, he was presented with the Perkins Faculty Award for the student who best exemplified the goals and mission of the school. In 2009, he received his doctor of ministry degree from Perkins. During his pastoral career, Saenz served churches in Dallas, El Paso and Edinburg, Texas. In those congregations, he addressed the issues of generational, social and systemic poverty that plague the region. In El Paso. Saenz and his wife, Maye, have four children, Aaron (Iris), Christina (Matthew), Ruben III, and Isaac.

Community Storm Shelter

The United Methodist Church has been designated as a Community Storm Shelter to give a safe place to members of the community in need. Signs are posted to show the way to the designated area in the event of tornado or severe storm warnings.
