The Bible is filled with examples of grateful responses to God's generous gifts.

"I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."
        --Matthew 25:35-36

Giving to God

The word tithe means tenth and refers to the first ten percent of all our income. The Bible tells us that the tithe belongs to God, and is to be immediately set aside for Him (Leviticus 27:30), and is to be brought to the storehouse (Malachi 3:10). Today, that storehouse is the local church.

When we tithe, we give to others through the church. God is not interested in the simple action of giving; He is intensely interested in the faith that prompts the action of giving.

The Bible says by giving generously we are able to “take hold of the life that is truly life.” You aren’t really living unless you’re freely giving. (1 Timothy 6:19)
